Equal pay is our priority, and that’s why ASDA retail workers across the country are standing together with GMB, fighting for pay justice in stores through our ASDA Equal Pay: Pockets the Difference campaign. ASDA retail workers, most of them women, do vital work every day that is every bit as important as the roles in ASDA’s distribution centres, where the workforce is mainly male. Yet ASDA continues to pay distribution workers up to £3.74 more per hour than those in stores. This isn’t just unfair; it’s a clear example of gender pay inequality.

GMB members have led this campaign from the start, building one of the biggest equal pay fights the private sector has ever seen. Through years of organising, legal challenges, and workplace campaigning, ASDA workers have made their voices heard. We’ve secured major steps forward, forced the company to take notice, and kept equal pay firmly on the national agenda. But the campaign is far from over. We continue to organise in stores across the country, and we’re keeping up the pressure until ASDA values its retail workforce properly and pays them fairly.

Join us today and be part of this historic campaign for equal pay. With every new member, our movement grows stronger and our call for fairness becomes harder to ignore. This is about standing up for what’s right, demanding respect at work, and making sure no worker—especially not women in frontline roles—is short-changed because of who they are or where they work. If you’re an ASDA worker and not yet a member, now is the time. Join GMB and help close the gap for good.
